Repatriation Flights to Begin from 31st July 2020

Repatriation flights will resume from 31st July 2020 bringing an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 Sri Lankan nationals back into the country states Admiral Jayanath Colombage, Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations. Two flights are expected to arrive on the 31st of July 2020 and 1st August 2020 carrying workers stranded in UAE. Repatriations which were initially pushed back to early September is expected to resume at the end of the month in order to bring home 50,000 more people stranded in various countries amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However BIA is expected to remain closed till September as initially planned.
