We can still celebrate the things that make us #LoveSriLanka, while we stay home and stay safe.
Stilt fishing is a unique art of fishing which is native to Sri Lanka. Primarily practiced in the southern coast of the island, stilt fishing is believed to have originated after World War II.
Local men originally stood on the wreckages of capsized ships and downed aircraft while they fished, subsequently erecting wooden stilts in the ocean bed. Today it is still used by local fishermen who cannot purchase expensive fishing equipment. #SriLanka

Delkanda is reputed for its weekend fair where locals from far away villages come with their share of vegetables, tropical fruits, herbs and leaves grown in their home gardens. They bring rare herbs and leafy greens that my late father used to bring us long time ago. Some time ago, the Muncipal Council built a market complex for the local vendors. The weekend fair moved to that building located outside the main road.
Today I came across a humble vendor preparing to sell his share of jackfruit, curry leaves and Beli fruit on the road where the old fair was. He reminded me of the good old days of the Delkanda Weekend Fair. Repost: @sosrilankanlife

A snippet from the 5 day eye clinic hosted by Ulpotha yoga & ayurveda retreat, free to the surrounding communities. The initiative saw 12 volunteer optometrists from the University of Melbourne fly down to Sri Lanka a week after the attacks to ensure the clinic would go as planned.
