In 2018 the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority reported that the tourism industry directly employed over 150,000 people and over 200,000 people indirectly. The Alliance is committed to supporting the growth and development of the tourism workforce, so that Sri Lanka will become a globally recognized, world class service oriented destination.

The Alliance supports the Government of Sri Lanka’s goal of achieving USD 10 billion in tourism earnings by 2025, as well as the Government’s tourism mission to drive economic benefits to communities across the country. The tourism industry creates jobs on every level, from trainee to executive to higher management. It also holds opportunities in a number of diverse fields, ranging from culinary to conservation.
