Polonnaruwa to be Developed as a Hot Spot for Travellers
The government has taken the necessary steps to develop Polonnaruwa, as a tourist destination. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Livelihood Development Committee at the District Secretariat. In the interest of developing the city, a tourist Hotel School will open its doors next year. Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism stated that the discussion was focused on making Polonnaruwa, which is known as a World Heritage Site, an attractive destination to all travellers, offering a more people-friendly tourism industry.
