Cabinet approves Relief Measures to Tourism Industry

Bandula Gunawardana, Cabinet Spokesman confirmed that a cabinet paper on providing the Tourism Industry with support during the Covid -19 pandemic presented by Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister Tourism and Aviation has been approved by the Cabinet. The relief measures include granting 5 year loans at 4% interest rate to registered hotels for employee salaries with a grace period of 2 years, a one time payment of Rs.20,000 to registered guides, a one time payment of Rs.15,000 for Tour drivers, easy payment scheme for electricity and water bills for the period of March-August payable from 1 September.
