Sri Lanka Tourism Unaware of Ukrainian Visitors Travels Plans

Kimarli Fernando, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Tourism made a statement in writing to Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, that Sri Lanka Tourism was unaware of the travel plans of the Ukrainian visitors to Mirissa and Yala National Park until it was highlighted by the media.

In her letter to Prasanna Ranatunga, she further stated that the Director-General of Sri Lanka Tourism had attempted to gain information in this regard from the tour organisers, and had received no response. Following an agreement made during a meeting held by the Task Force, all tour organisers are meant to provide Sri Lanka Tourism with complete itineraries of the tour including details of drivers and guides in advance, to be handed over to the regional health authorities for the purpose of screening and quarantine.
