Having identified the need for higher quality data and research in order to strategically improve the direction of Sri Lanka tourism, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and Australia’s Market Development Facility (MDF), have come together to promote Sri Lanka’s position as Asia’s foremost tourism destination.

The roadmap will help the public and private sectors have a better understanding of the visitors who arrive in Sri Lanka in order to make better decisions and investments in the tourism sector. The road map will focus on the steps that would need to be implemented in the next 5 years in order to bring Sri Lanka’s tourism sector to the same standard as other leading tourism destinations globally. This would be the first time a thorough analysis has been undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of the data collection efforts by SLTDA and its usage.
