Reopening of the Airport Pushed back Indefinitely

Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister, Tourism and Aviation confirmed that the reopening of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) will be delayed further. The Airport which was previously scheduled to reopen mid-August has been pushed back taking into consideration the new COVID-19 infected clusters identified within the country. The government has decided to prioritise containing the spread of the virus and the repatriation of Sri Lankans stranded overseas.
